Kingspan Kooltherm K18 Insulated Plasterboard Commercial Insulation

Kingspan Kooltherm K18 Insulated Plasterboard is manufactured without the use of CFCs/HCFCs and has zero Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP).

  • 3-in-1 insulation, dry-lining and vapour control
  • Clear cavity is maintained – resists moisture penetration
  • CodeMark-certified for BCA compliance
  • Group 1 BCA fire classification

Kooltherm K18 Is a premium performance rigid thermoset phenolic insulated plasterboard for use in mechanically fixed internal dry lining applications.   Front Facing – 12.5mm tapered edge, gypsum based plasterboard which readily accepts dry-jointing materials, plaster skim or direct decoration. Reverse facing – a low emissivity composite foil autohesively bonded to the insulation core during manufacture. This reflective, low emissivity surface improves the thermal resistance of any unventilated cavity adjacent the board.

Kingspan K18 Applications

Kingspan Kooltherm K18 Insulated Plasterboard is specifically designed to provide thermal insulation and drylining in one operation significantly reducing installation time. Kooltherm K18 can be specified for use in a variety of applications including:

  • All Cavity Masonry Wall Constructions
  • Solid Walls
  • Timber Frame Walls
  • Ceilings

With Kingspan Kooltherm Insulated Plasterboard K18 you are specifying insulation board that:

  • has the premium performance rigid thermoset insulation – thermal conductivities as low as 0.020 W/mk
  • provides negligible smoke obscuration
  • has insulation , dry-lining and vapour control in one board
  • allows quick response heating
  • is unaffected by air infiltration
  • is resistant to the passage of water vapour
  • is easy to handle and install
  • is ideal for new bulid and refurbishment
  • is non deleterious material

The Kingspan Kooltherm Range

Kingspan Kooltherm Insulation is our premium performance rigid phenolic insulation with low thermal conductivities and can be used in an extensive range of new and existing building applications, including insulated plasterboard for solid walls. This product range offers among the most thermally efficient conductivity and thermal performance values available, which means you can minimise thickness of your insulation compared to other conventional insulations to achieve the same performance.

Kingspan Kooltherm also has exceptional fire performance characteristics. As it is a thermoset material it hardens and chars in fire situations, giving off very little smoke; unlike thermoplastics, such as polystyrene which melt, soften, and give off thick black smoke

Characteristics:

• Thermal Conductivity as low as 0.019 W/mK
• Rigid thermoset insulation core with Class 0 rating
• Closed cell structure resists moisture
• Unaffected by air infiltration
• Safe and easy to install – non–fibrous
• Not effected by the problems faced by fibrous insulations such as water vapour, moisture and air infiltration which can reduce the thermal performance

Uses:

• Floors, Carpark Soffits, Walls, Rainscreen Systems, Roofs.

R-Value Assumption and Key

The R-values shown are Total R-values for the building element as required by the Energy Provisions of the Building Code of Australia. Kingspan Kooltherm products are manufactured, tested and packaged in conformance with AS/NZS 4859.1.

The contribution of the product Total R-values depends on installation and environmental conditions. The R-value will be reduced in the event of the accumulation of dust on the upward facing surfaces and in those cavities that are ventilated.

Kooltherm K18 Install Instructions

Storage

The packaging of Kingspan Kooltherm should not be considered adequate for outdoor protection. Boards should be stored inside a building. If, however, temporary outdoor storage cannot be avoided then the boards should be stacked flat on a level base, clear of the ground, and completely protected from inclement weather through use of a polythene sheet or weatherproof tarpaulin. Boards that have been allowed to get wet should not be used.

How to icut and install Kingspan Kooltherm InsulationResistance to Solvents

The insulation core is resistant to short-term contact with petrol and with most dilute acids, alkalis and mineral oils. However, it is recommended that any spills be cleaned off fully before the boards are installed. Ensure that safe methods of cleaning are used, as recommended by suppliers of the spilt liquid. The insulation core is not resistant to some solvent-based adhesive systems, particularly those containing methyl ethyl ketone. Adhesives containing such solvents should not be used in association with this product. Damaged boards or boards that have been in contact with harsh solvents or acids should not be used.

OH&S

Kingspan Insulation products are chemically inert and safe to use. A Product Safety Information Sheet is available from Kingspan Insulation Pty Ltd.

Please note that the reflective surfaces on this product are designed to enhance their thermal performance. As such, the will reflect light as well as heat, including ultraviolet light. Therefore, if these boards are being installed during bright or sunny weather, it is advisable to wear UV protective sunglasses or goggles and if the skin is exposed for a significant period of time, protect bare skin with a UV block sun cream.

Foil facings are conductive to electricity – avoid contact with un-insulated electrical cables and fittings.
